D/ST:  Ol' Mr. Consistent with the defense in Penn State.  Strom Paterno has been fielding a great defense all 48 years he's been the head coach there and this season isn't going to be any different.  They aren't LB U for nothing.

The Penn State Nittany Lions have played 3 teams that are over .500 win percentage. There overall opponent records are 35-44. They defeated Oregon State (5-3) in week 2 by 31 points, at home. The same Oregon State team that beat USC (7-1) at home but, by only a touchdown.

WEEK SEVEN POWER RANKINGS

25. GT (5-1)
This team is looking shaky. Relegated to their third-string quarterback on Saturday due to injuries, they barely escaped a 2-5 FCS school, Gardner-Webb, with a 10-7 win.  If they don’t get healthy soon, this will be last week in the top 25 for the Yellow Jackets.

WEEK SIX COLLEGE FOOTBALL RANKINGS

    Considering the fact that a 3-point loss in Blacksburg is the only blemish on its record, Georgia Tech deserves to be ranked in the top 25. In his first year in Atlanta, Paul Johnson is definitely exceeding expectations.

State battle between Iowa and ISU, I couldn't help but be reminded of Iowa's epic 6-4 victory over Penn State in 2004.  For three quarters in Iowa, it looked like that game might be matched for offensive prowess.
