So, rumor has it online sports betting used to be really sweet; I heard pinnaclesports was an excellent, reputable site until the US cracked down on this alleged integrity issue. An article I read points to a 1999 study that over $380 billion is illegally wagered on betting. Now, I am not an advocate of; well, if society does it.. then it must be right. Because usually, I think people are pretty stupid, especially society. However, this seems harmless to me because the money can be used in so many ways. Think of all the tax money and money, in general, the state and the US can collect, insane. Anyway, it appears sports betting is only allowed in several states where it was legal before a certain law was passed.

Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, and now Alex Rodriguez: all helped to bring baseball back from the bad memories of the mid 90's strike, and ushered in a new love for America's favorite past time. Now, all their efforts are revealed for what they were: an easy and cheap way to immortality through their use of performance enhancing drugs. A-Rod was carrying the banner for a while, and recently it was revealed that maybe our last true hero of our game had succumbed to the easy way to success. Were it not for several injury plagued seasons, Ken Griffey Jr. would have been our true knight on shining armor. As he still trudges along without the power and charisma he once had, who can baseball fans turn to now?

The sport of Major League Baseball just can't catch a break. The steroids era is very damaging to the game. Not to long ago the fans suffered major disappointment learning of the alleged steroid use of such stars of Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. Not to long before that Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa cases were presented before us. We all thought what a relief that we still have coveted stars whose names weren't implicated in any of that mess. Well fans... we were all wrong. The games savior Alex Rodriguez admittedly used performance enhancing drugs. I was indeed shocked but I almost expected this. How many more players are there out there who no in doubt cheated the game and all of us? I don't exactly know, but I am beginning not to even care. The fact that drugs have played a part in the game that I love the most, has become reality and there is nothing I can do to change it. I believe in

Manny Ramirez turned down the Dodgers 1 year-$25 million contract today. $25 million would have made Manny the second highest player this year. Can you guess who would be the highest? Maybe the third baseman for the New York Yankees?

Last night, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 to win the World Series in five games (4-1). This is the second World Championship for the Phils…they previously won in 1980…28 years ago. This will be remembered as one of the weirdest finishes in a Series with an unprecedented suspension of a game due to inclement weather. The game was concluded 48 hours later…in hindsight…it was worth the wait!

ATLANTA -- With a swipe of his pen, Mike Woodson will remain as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.
Good move.
When things go wrong, the coach often gets the blame. But has any coach in recent professional sports history inherited more of a mess than Woodson, whose four years on the job has been marked by a complete overhaul of the roster, a 13-win season, mostly empty seats at Philips Arena, a failed move by then-general manager Billy Knight to fire him, and a nasty ownership spat that still sits unresolved in the courts.

Josh Anderson can run.
The speedy outfielder stole 40 bases at Triple-A Round Rock last season. Called up to Houston in September, he hit .358 in 21 games. This season, at Triple-A Richmond, Anderson stole 13 bases in 16 attempts.

Two games down on the current road trip. Eight games to go. One baseball team, sinking fast.
The Braves ran their losing streak to five games Wednesday night and never had a chance against the team with the best record in the bigs. The Cubs lit up emergency starter Jeff Bennett for seven runs and seven hits in two-plus innings, Atlanta falling 7-2 to drop two games below .500.

Yep, the injury bug now has bitten one of the Braves' youngsters.
According to some reports on the Web this afternoon, Jair Jurrjens injured his ankle while leaving Wrigley Field last night and will not make his scheduled start tonight against the Cubs.

ATLANTA -- As the Atlanta Braves prepared to leave Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and close spring training, the franchise that built its success on pitching felt pretty good about 2008.

Withh all the things going on in Major League baseball maybe they should rename it the Hall of Shame. Baseball's Hall of Fame could be without some great players depending on how the voters vote after the Mitchell report came out and talk about steroid use as the main problem in the last ten years in baseball. Some of the game's biggest stars were implicated in the drug scandal. Names like Bonds, Petitte, Clemens were just a few of the names that surfaced. I wonder how many people have used it but never caught. Bet that would be a very intersting number.
