Lebron James

5 October 2009

Braylon Edwards and his posse apparently are rolling Cleveland looking for LeBron and his posse?  What is going on here?  Braylon Edwards, king of the drop and the one year wonder season, decided that he was ALLEGEDLY going to throw a punch at one of LeBron's friends.  And, I want to be honest here, I've made Rocky references my entire life.. but Braylon really can throw a punch like Rocky and even Ivan Drago.  Rumor out of Cleveland.. and even around the NFL is that Braylon's hands are made of stone, literally.  LeBron's friend basically got lit up with a brick to the face.  That had to hurt a little bit.

LeBron James' alleged confiscation of a tape in which Xavier sophomore basketball player Jordan Crawford executed a two-hand dunk on him took on a larger life of its own than it would have had the tape been made public.

Tiger Woods is the biggest icon in the sports world today.

No athlete has transcended his sport the way the man with the most famous fist pump ever has transcended the game of golf. Countless fans tune in to golf tournaments only to check Tiger's progress. His popularity has made several other golfers rich because of his appeal as a marketing instrument.

As we Laker fans begin to ponder Los Angeles' acquisition of Ron Artest at the expense of Trevor Ariza, a sense of dread came over me.

Not that the roster shakeup is necessary a bad one, but that now I'm a full-fledged fan of the NBA Villain.

Even in victory, Kobe Bryant can't win.

In the days immediately following the Los Angeles Lakers' clinching of the 2008-09 NBA championship, two columnists were all to eager to try to undermine their accomplishments.

Earlier in the NBA playoffs, a 25-point Los Angeles Lakers victory would have been a source of concern heading into the ensuing game.

Fortunately, the Lakers now have two things going for them following their 100-75 blowout of the Orlando Magic in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night.

I recently wrote this piece for RealGM.com and it has a thorough comedic breakdown of my thoughts on the Knicks deals at the deadline.

The Cleveland Cavaliers know that Lebron James could leave them soon for money, bright lights, and more opportunities in other avenues such as New York City and other places. Many teams are positioning them for a run at James and other free agents in 2010 and that is why Cleveland not making any trades is kind of interesting. Cleveland was trying to make trades for Shaq and Richard Jefferson, but nothing became of it. Now Shaq and Lebron together would had been a very interesting pairing and one that would have been tough to stop. Richard Jefferson was another player that could have helped the Cleveland Cavaliers as well, but a deal could not be worked out.

Okay, let's just be honest here.  Nate Robinson may not have fully deserved the 2006 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Title, but he sure earned it this year.  Nate battled the defending champion, Dwight Howard, in the Finals and one-upped the ultimate gamesman in the end.  Together they put on possibly the greatest show in the history of the contest since the days of Michael Jordan battling Dominique Wilkins.

The first time I ever saw Michael Jordan was when I was searching through the channels one night. I was no more than eight years old. He was flying in the air with his tongue sticking out as he was preparing to dunk. I never saw anything like it. He was this mysterious figure that I would grow up to adore and admire. I wanted to be like Mike, except I was a girl. Truth be told, I wanted to better than Mike. In my entire life, I never thought we would have this discussion: Who is the next Michael Jordan? Everyone keeps saying Kobe Bryant or LeBron James is the next Michael Jordan. They will never touch his status.

It's Saturday morning and the Dawgs are facing a bye week, Ohio State is facing Meeechigan and JoePa is trying to earn a trip to sunny California. Looking for some insight ...... or just a reason to laugh. Look no further my friend. Prepare to scroll and please pass the hot chocolate. Ohio State leads Rodriguez to grimmace. But don't believe the rumors that he calls in sick. Rich shows up and even calls a play or two that lead to a TD. Problem is the Buckeyes score more. A LOT more.Clemson is away in Charlottesville, but there is nothing cavalier about their attitude today. They touch that rock Dabo style. Uva keeps it close but Harper hits Kelly early and then late to keep the Tigers thankful for a win before Darth Visor visits.JoePa's Nittany Lions take on Michigan State for a chance to earn a Rose Bowl berth. The Spartans have one of the best backs in college football, but I think Penn State takes care of business at home.Oregon State can keep the dream alive in the Tucson desert. 'Zona keeps this one close before the Rodgers brothers take over. Dam! Beavers are still ahead of the mighty trojans....Tennessee visits Vandy. The vOwels were a dark horse in the SEC East in the preseason. Now they're just a dead horse. Philmer falters with a team that is clearly not fighting for him.Houston Nutt returns to Death Valley where he thought he had put a fork in the Tigers hopes of a National Championship last season. Problem was those kitties had more than nine lives. This year Nutt has a new team, but the result is the same. Rebels are better than Troy. They can play for 60 minutes.Arkansas at Missy State - if you're reading this one, seek help. I'm picking State just because I like Croom....and Petrino's a dork.North Carolina State heads to Chapel Hill to try and put a dent in what has been a shiny season for Butch's Tar Heels. I think this one will be closer than many think. But UNC makes the wolfpack howl in the end.UGA vs. the Bye - we won the last matchup back in early October. The bye came out steaming mad, but the Dawgs recovered nicely and I think this one goes the same way. Take a deep breath Dawgs, the bees are buzzin'.Citadel goes into the Swamp and many are predicting a blowout. I agree! This one's over by halftime. Citadel 74, gators 3.The Big 12 matchup of the week should only take 5 and a half hours to play. Texas Tech takes their future former head coach Mike Leach to Oklahoma and yes they are still #2. I personally would love to see Texas Tech meet Bama for the BCS. Trendy offense with all the flash and sparkle. Versus traditional power that prides itself on smash-mouth. But Oklahoma makes a statement tonight. Boomer-Sooner in a close one.

Boston Celtics will probably have a harder time beating the following teams below:

1) Cleveland

Lebron James will probably come up with an MVP season this year and his newly acquired teammate Mo Williams will definitely add firepower for the Cavs. Last season was quite close but no cigar for Lebron as he was close to winning an MVP trophy and also close to beating the Celtics in just a single game. Lebron has an upgraded team backing him up and his then new teammates is more acquainted with him now, which means more chemistry than before and also means a harder time for opposing teams.

Lebron James the staple of the Cleveland Cavaliers looks like in a couple of years he could be jetting right out of Cleveland. James for the most part has been real patient with the Cleveland Cavilers management about getting some talent around him, but  he hasn't seen much. Yes, Cavalier fans you made it to the NBA Championship last year because of Lebron, but one man doesn't carry a team as you found out in the finals.
