It's that time of year again folks. Time to start predicting the unpredictable. Will any of the Denver Broncos running backs get enough carries to warrant a spot on your roster? Can Michael Turner replicate last season's performance and warrant the second overall pick in your draft? What will Terrell Owens's numbers look like now that he is in Buffalo? And how does that impact Trent Edwards value as the Bills' QB? Who am I taking if I get the first pick? What if I get stuck at the end of the first round? Do I snatch up two running backs? Or should I go one running back and also nab a top tier receiver?

Sorry, guys. I guess I'm out of the loop, not to mention 2,500 miles away. Has Aaron Maybin signed yet? Anybody think this guy is worthy of the position he was drafted? I'm not implying he isn't. It's just that living in Arizona, I don't get a lot of info on Penn State guys. I hear he's the real deal.

Just want to throw this out there for discussion fodder. Fitzpatrick may not be a bad backup at QB. I know this isn't a major conern for Bills fans, but I always thought Losman was a joke. Fitz may not be your everyday QB, but I didn't think he was bad in the HoF game against the Titans (or was it the Oilers?) Sunday. Heck, he's gotta be smart. Didn't he play at Harvard? Not that I really want to focus on the backup QB.

You know, I'm the kind of guy who hated Terrell Owens when he was in San Francisco, Philly, and Dallas. I've NEVER liked the guy who was bigger than the game. I can't stand athletes who make more money than the average guy and bitch because they don't get what they want (or think they deserve).

Why do people read books or watch movies? What is it that they find intriguing? It’s the story. If it’s a great story that you are looking for than you need only look to professional sports.

The Buffalo Bills have continually given the faithful, blaze orange clad, Genny Light drinking fans in Buffalo a steady stream of heartache through bad management, coaching decisions and poor drafting. The trend has somewhat been reversed as of late but some of these decisions still loom large. These decisions also seem to rack up numbers in the loss column and continually prevent the Bills from making the playoffs. How the Bills choose who they draft and when is beyond me and somehow it leads to the losing trend. Thirty eight to be exact through the 2007 season.

Winners - Miami Dolphins
3) Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots
This is a big AFC East showdown. Both teams are coming off loses. Matt Cassel is 5-3 as a starter which is definitely respectable. The Bills defense is good, but for some reason my gut is telling me to go with the Pats with this one. New England still has veteran players, they still have grumpy old Bill on the sideline who knows the game. This game will be close, but I say Pats win.

So I normally title my Monday blog: Monday Mourning due to being hungover from a full day of drinking and watching sports, hence the “mourning” because I have to get up, go to work, puke in the bathroom, and subsequently fall asleep in all of my meetings and get absolutely no work done. But today is different, mainly due to the fact that CBS’s and Fox’s regional coverage of NFL games in my area was HORRIBLE. Games that had a spread of +11 with no fantasy implications at all were being aired, so I went and watched polo (you know, the sport where guys on horses trot around and whack a ball with mallets). I had never been to a polo game before but we decided to go due to the possibility of attractive females (there are always beautiful women at horse events). We mingled with a few and made up some elaborate lies that we were just checking out the competition and had our horses stabled a few miles away. We were obviously out of place, with our cheers of “nice pass man!” and “shoooooot it!” but we wholeheartedly plan on attending it every Sunday for the rest of the season – pending what NFL games are on of course.

Well, it's Monday morning. All of us are recovering from a roller-coaster weekend of football. I sat on the same couch, in the same clothes, in the same position from Thursday evening (USC/Oregon St thriller) until 8:35pm on Sunday night. It wasn't until Sunday morning that I realized how bad I actually smelled.

I just wanted to let you know that I may be unable to post for a few days. I live south of Houston, near Galveston, Texas. As hurricane Ike approaches there may be power outages and loss of internet access. If that is the case, I will be unable to write my column. Remember though, there are things much more important than sports. If you need Ike information, you can go to:

Megan Manfull of the Houston Chronicle has reported these injuries -
Running back Ahman Green - It wasn't a cramp that limited his play Sunday. He has a sprained ankle.

Believe. Believe. It’s the one word in sports that says so much but says so little. You’ve seen signs in every NFL stadium at some point with this simple word. ”Believe.” When MLB baseball approaches the postseason every year, the word reappears. “Believe.” But believe in what I ask you? Do the Chicago Cubs “believe” that they will win a World Championship? Or do they “believe” that some strange twist of fate will ruin another promising season. What does your team “believe” in?
