No Melo, No Problem

Reyns Gems

My apologies to those who missed my posts over the past week, as I was in the process of installing internet in my new apartment.

And now to the question everybody is asking – can the Nuggets survive without Melo?

J.R. Smith Got Screwed

Reyns Gems

While the NBA has arguably the greatest All-Star game, the recent selections in the skill competitions have me fuming.

Last year’s NBA All-Star week, highlighted by Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard and the slam dunk competition brought back whispers of ‘the dunk contest being back.’

Denver Nuggets: Week in Review

December 21-December 27

The Carmelo-less Nuggets kicked off the week of December 21st with a much needed win at home against Portland.

The win snapped a three-game skid (longest of the season) and proved Denver could get the job done without their star player. However, the following night the Nuggets found it tough sledding against the very same Portland team, dropping a difficult road test 92-101.

Denver Nuggets Wrap Up

12/14-12/20

I was on my way to the blog when I decided to take a swing by centsports.com and see how my bets were doing.

Bad call.

Sometime around 12 or 1 last night, I thought it would be bright to risk two of my hard earned $3.74 on a soccer game taking place over in France. The problem? I couldn’t tell you a thing about soccer. So why did I do it? Easy, a -200 favorite seemed tempting.

Reyns Gems Weekly Dancer Pick

Nicole of the Denver Nuggets

This scorching hot babe from Boulder has been with the Nuggets squad for three seasons now.

She says she started dancing at the age of two, which is at least what her parents tell her. Nicole became a Nuggets dancer because she always aspired to take her dancing to the professional level and finds this the ultimate accomplishment.

There were a lot of reasons for the collapse of the Ron Prince era, but the biggest might have been his lack of quality assistant coaches.  Tim McCarty, who was Ron Prince’s offensive line and assistant head coach, announced Thursday that he would return to Division II school Eastern Central University in Oklahoma. McCarty coached at ECU in 2004 and 2005, compiling a 9-11 record. McCarty is not taking a job as an offensive line coach at some other BCS school. He is not even taking an assistant job for a Division I-AA team. He’s heading back to Division II.

No one is saying it. The networks and big newspapers love to ignore the WAC, Mountain West, and others as if they were a conservative Republican with no charisma. In my area, for example, the Utah-BYU game was not even on television. A game between two top 20 teams was unavailable. A game that would determine one of the schools in the BCS this season was a no-show.

Every expert on television, news columnist, sports reporter to your chat room and forum users all say the Houston Rockets can go deep into the playoffs if A: They can keep Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming healthy and B: If Ron Artest can keep his composure on and off the court. Earlier tonight, if a single game was any indication; Rockets fans will have something to cheer about in late April and May and fellow NBA teams can expect Houston to be a legit threat all season.

Also, the PBA or the Philippines Basketball Association is the second oldest professional basketball league in the world, next to the NBA. This league has been one of the foundations of sports in the Philippines.

In a recent debate, the question "Which is the best conference in college football?" arose.  I, from Missouri, and a completely biased asshole, claimed that the Big 12 was easily the most dominant. Whereas, a fellow fan settled on the SEC.  Let's break it down, shall we? The top five ranked teams in the country are either from the SEC or the Big 12, making the argument even tougher.

How bad can this season get for Bengals fans? It's bad enough that no one respects the boys in stripes, but what else is new?  No, the new low came this past Sunday when the equally dissed and abismal Browns came into our house and beat us 20-12.  Now, granted, the Defense of Cincinnati played well most of the game, but the ugly sea monster known as the offensive line reared its head again this week.  They could not protect Ryan Fitzpatrick nor could they open up many running lanes for Chris Perry.  This brings me to my point for this article: why did we waste a bunch of money by signing Cedric Benson this week?
