Lawrence (L.R.) Heffernan's NCAA Football Fan Profile

Brief description

Love A&M Football, but also love the Astros, Dallas Cowboys, and Houston Rockets.

Who am I?

What's up I am a recent graduate of Texas Tech University and love College Football. I am a huge Aggie fan but graduated from Texas Tech and live in Austin, TX. Kinda weird I know. I enjoy all sports and I am an avid fan of the Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Rockets, and enjoy watching golf as well.

Tonight's prediction's 8/28/08 Wake Forest(-12) at Baylor- Briles first game at Baylor will be an interesting one. Look for Baylor to strike early but Wake Fores will cover and pull away in the end 38-21. NC State at South Carolina(-12.5)- Well "The Old ball Coach" isn't calling plays but the "Old Ball Caoch Jr." is. South Carolina is going to be way too fast for this ACC team. NC State is at least a year away. South Carolina no problem here they win 41-17 and cover fairly easy. Oregon St.(-3) at Stanford- Coach Harbaugh and the cardinals will look to improve and build off of last year's success. I like the upset here, if it is really an upset. Stanford wins it late 27-24 and cover with the 3 points they are getting.

Leading up to the first week of College Football what does Sherman have to accomplish to be considered a first year success? Many people believe that Texas A&M is a bottom tier Big 12 team. When you look at their roster and some of their credentials you really have to be scratching your head. They may have not had a top 10 class the past few years like LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, among others. But they still have key athletes at key positions. But as it has always been stated, "it all starts up front" for the Aggies key to success. The Offensive Line has two notable guys in Travis Schneider and Michael Shumard. The Defensive Line lost two key components from last year team notably Chris Harrington and Red Bryant. Coach Sherman needs to find adequete and consistent replacements. The O-Line is going to be young with a redshirt freshman in Matthews and even a possible true freshman in Brian Thomas replacing two of the three openings. On the D-Line we will see Cyril Obiozor and Kellen Heard try and fill these voids. The second key to Coach Sherman's first year is how Stephen McGee will adjust to a pro-style offense. We all know the ongoing shoulder problems he has had the past two years. Can he adjust and not be tempted to use those legs more than what he should. Coach Sherman has his guy in place after the QB position was opened the first two weeks of two-a-days. Coach Sherman will keep his options open as he has stated that he wouldnot hesistate to give Jerrod Johnson or Ryan Tannehill a chance if Mcgee struggles. Speaking of Johnson and Tannehill this lead me to the third step, finding a go-to WR. Johnson and Tannehill have begun taking snaps as receivers. But the impact incoming freshman named Jeff Fuller can help here. A big target for McGee will be needed to help open up this offense. We all know that Coach Sherman has an offensive backfield that is loaded. Before I even talk about Goodson and Lane, you have two potential game breakers behind Goodson. Cyrus Gray will see a lot of action in the slot and on third downs before the season is over. Bradley Stephens will be a sppedster capable of opening the field as well. We may also see Gray in the return game, which would be something different for Aggie fans, a fast return man who has good hands! These will be very important keys on Coach Sherman's first year in Aggieland. Later on this week I will break down My Impact Players for this year, A complete rundown of the Aggies schedule, and a game preview with Arkansas St. Until then make sure you tip your waitresses

5 Impact Conference Games That Will Decide the Big 12 posted on 08/28/2008

There are always intense, physical, and competitive games in the Big 12 week in and week out. But there seems to be a handful of games every year that you can look back on at the end of the season and point towards those games at contributors of how the conference championship was decided. I have pointed out five games that I feel will make or break how this conference will be decided this year.

Oklahoma St. at Missouri Oct. 11

You want to talk about a game that you are going to see players moving up and down the field constantly. Two similar offenses in style. They both like to spread it out but will also mix in some speed option and get the QB's involve. Look for this game to be decided on who can come up with that big defensive stop in the end. If you can stop either Chase Daniel or Zac Robinson at the end of the game you will win. Easier said than done though.

Impact Incoming Freshman in The Big 12 (2008) posted on 08/27/2008

In the Big 12 you see amazing athleticism put on display year in and year out. You also see a young gamebreaker come out of nowhere and make an immediate impact on conference championships and even national championships. We've seen it in the past with Adrian Peterson from Oklahoma in 2003, Mike Goodson from Texas A&M in 2006, and the amazing freshman from last year, Michael Crabtree from Texas Tech and Sam Bradford from Oklahoma. This year is no different. With several coaching changes in the Big 12 this year, the other two stories of the conference would have to be how Kansas and Missouri can answer their season from a year ago and the topic we are going to talk about today, the numerous impact freshman that enter the Big 12 this upcoming fal

Oklahoma Sooners- R.J. Washington DE from Keller, TX
