NCAA Football Heisman Curse?

So, Sam Bradford won the Heisman Trophy. Naturally, that should be a good indication for Oklahoma's chances versus Florida in the National Championship. Right? Wrong. Let's take a closer look.

2006 Heisman winner: Troy Smith (QB Ohio State)

2006 National Championship: Florida 41, Ohio State 14

2005 Heisman winner: Reggie Bush (RB USC)

 2005 National Championship:  Texas 41, USC 38

2003 Heisman winner: Jason White (Oklahoma QB)

 2003 National Championship: LSU 21, Oklahoma 14

2001 Heisman winner: Eric Crouch (Nebraska QB)

 2001 National Championship: Miami 37, Nebraska 14

2000 Heisman winner: Chris Weinke (Florida State QB)

2000 National Championship: Oklahoma 13, Florida State 2

That brings us to 1996 (the next time a Heisman winner played in the National Championship). So, who was this Heisman winner? Danny Wuerffel, Quarterback of Florida. Florida routed Florida State 52-20. The only other recent Heisman winner/ National Champion was Matt Leinart in 2004.

Good luck, Oklahoma.
