With all the Mountain West Conference upsets going on people seem to be overlooking Ball State, a team that's favored to win the Mid American Conference title. Last Saturday Ball State put 41 points on the board to defeat Big Ten opponent, Indiana Hoosiers 41-20 . Ball State has a very dangerous offense that features players like Dante Love, MiQuale Lewis, Darius Hill, Robert Brewster and Nate Davis.
Dante Love is a 5-10 180 lb wide receiver from Cincinnati, Ohio who is the team's most electric player. Love has 28 receptions through the first four games however he left the IU game early and his condition is uncertain at the time. He is also listed at second in the nation in total Receiving yards (460). Love is also a dangerous threat on kickoff returns.
Running back MiQuale Lewis has rushed for 529 yards on 89 carries and has seven touchdowns on the year. Lewis rushed for 166 yards on Saturday verse IU and has rushed for over a hundred yards in 5 of his last 6 games.
Darius Hill, who stands at six feet six inches, is one of the top ranked tight ends in the country. Hill is first on Ball State's career touchdown receptions list and fifth on their career receiving yards list. He will be a first day pick.
Robert Brewster is an offensive lineman who is 6'5 310 lbs who has started for the Cardinals every game of his college career. Last year Brewster was a first team All-Mac selection and was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List, which goes out to the Nation's top interior lineman. Brewster is the truth (I would know because I played high school football with him for 3 years and he was our conference's offensive player of the year as an Offensive Lineman).
Signal caller Nate Davis is another record setting player for the Cardinals. Davis sits first on Ball State's career passing yards list with 6,797 yards and also first for career passing touchdowns with 58. Against IU Davis went 16-25 for 239 yards and a touchdown. Davis has thrown ten touchdowns and only three interceptions this year.
Ball State is 4-0 heading into conference play and looks to make a run at an undefeated season. November nineteenth is an important date to mark on your calender because Ball State will travel to Mount Pleasant to take on defending MAC champions Central Michigan. If Ball State wins out they could be looking at a shot to play in a big time bowl game, if the teams in the Mountain West Conference beat up on each other. This offense can be comparable to Miami Ohio's 2003 offense that was lead by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. A year that Miami finished ranking tenth in the nation and a GMAC Bowl birth.
