eyes. They were coming off an embarrassing defeat last week, losing to
the USC Trojans by over three touchdowns. The starting quarterback had
been senior, Todd Boeckman, who was an all Big Ten selection last year
however he has yet to lead the Buckeyes to a victory over an opponent
that's rank in the top 10. Alot of question had risen as to weather or
not Boeckman would get the start.
As the game approached we realized that freshman sensation Terrelle
Pryor was going to start his first game as a Buckeye. Boeckman played
one down on Ohio State's first drive in which he threw a poor ball
behind his receiver. That was the last time Boeckman saw the field that
day. Pryor lead Ohio State on numerous drives picking up yards running
and passing. He finished the day going 10-16 for 136 yards with four
touchdown passes and most importantly with a Buckeye victory over
opponent Troy. Not to mention his 66 rushing yards on 14 carries.
This game was a huge game for Pryor who was the first true freshman to
start for the Buckeyes since Art Schlichter did it in 1978. The
Buckeyes offense became more explosive and you could tell Pryor had
earned Tressel's trust when he heaved three touchdown passes that went
over 35 yards in the game. Now that dual threat Pryor is taking the
snaps it will be hard for Big Ten opponents to stop the Buckeyes offense
because Pryor can kill you on his feet or in the air. Although a shot
at the National Title is slim for the Buckeyes It is not too late for
the OSU to win a Big Ten Conference Championship and earn a trip to the
Rose Bowl. Next week we'll see how Pryor does against Big Ten opponent
Minnesota.
