Why the Colorado Buffaloes will win the Big XII North in 2009 posted on 12/05/2008
It has been painful to watch CU football this year. CU fans entered this season with so much excitement about the recruiting class coming in and the improvement from 2-10 in 2006 to 6-7 in 2007 with a bowl game... which we almost (and should have IMO) beat the now #1 ranked team in the country. After watching the first game at Invesco, I was not worried about this team at all. We didn't destroy the Rammies, but it is a rivalry game and I expected it to be close regardless of the gap in talent between the two programs. I started to get worried during the Eastern Washington game. I know they played good against us, but our offense should have been able to run all over this team. They went 6-5 in the Big Sky Conference. Yikes. Then rolled in West Virginia... By now I realized we would not have an explosive offense. We have a new system and are way too young to be running all over people. West Virginia showed up with no offense at all. All they could do was rely on the talent of Pat White and Noel Devine. Other than that, they were crap. If not for the blackout and pure loudness, I don't think we win that game. Since then, our offense has struggled more than anyone ever expected. Injuries, youth, and QB controversy have shattered this offense. I feel the defense has kept up quite well despite having to make up for the offense. (Except for Mizzou. That just plain sucked for everyone.)
