This is epic, everybody knows by now.  Boise State beat a terrible, lethargic looking Oregon team 19-8 Thursday night.  The best part is that LeGarrette Blount went Rocky on a Boise State guy after the game.  Well, it was a comination of Rocky's best punch vs. Tommy "Machine" Gunn and Mike Tyson when he was the most vicious ever.  So, naturally, here is the link to the punch:  click here. But, I have a few thoughts on the subject.  Naturally, Blount needs to get tossed off Oregon for the year.  That was vicious, and if done in a street, bar, store, or anywhere outside of a public sporting arena he's getting arrested.  Prove to me that he's not.  I know things happen on the field; it's physical and emotions run.  However, this was after the game with nothing really going on.  I'm sure Blount wasn't happy with his big day on the ground.. and by big day, I mean his 8 carries for -5 yards.  NICE!  That coming after he trashed Boise State earlier this year, talking about how excited he was to play them after Boise upset them last year in Eugene.  So, he had some things going for him.  He talked trash about a mid-major that just beat them.  He ripped off an impressive -5 yards rushing.  And to top it all off, some stiff, Byron Hout, slaps him on the shoulder and screams something probably not intelligent into his face.  Sweet, nice job, Hout.

So, I forgot to post 1 big time winner last night.  I was all over the Oregon/Boise State under and the Utah/Utah State over.  Hammered the under for a win, lost a little bit on the Utah spread and pushed on the total.  Figured they could cover 21 against a bad, bad Utah State team, but it apparently wasn't meant to be.  I'm a tad frustrated by that loss, but I've got one for tonight.  Friday Night High School Football night has a line up; not for high school but for that slugfest down south.  High powered Tulsa vs. ground ready Tulane and you know where I am going.  Under 62, all day long.  Tulsa isn't starting Paul Smith anymore, they were embarrassed their last time out.  Tulane runs right, runs left, runs right and left and they are going to try to keep the ball out of Tulsa's hands.  Eat the clock and score some points that way, baby.  Slow down the temp and make them earn the win.

Well, if you followed me it looks like you cashed in with plenty of room to spare on the Tulsa/Tulane game.  No big deal; it's just what I do.  I win college football bets.  1-0 posting here on the year.  For those of you keeping track at home that is a 1000% winning percentage.  Undefeated some of us like to call it.  That makes me better than Rocky, who lost a lot.  Has anybody ever noticed that about Rocky?  He lost to Apollo, beat Apollo, lost to Clubber, beat Clubber, beat Drago, beat Tommy "Machine" Gunn in an unsanctioned fight (doesn't count for the record), and lost to Mason Dixon.  That's 3-3 in fights that I've seen him in, and the guy has 5 movies!  Unreal.  He supposedly defended his title 10 times before losing it to Clubber, but I don't know about that.  All I know is that he's not smart, but he takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.  Any Stratford football fans out there, that might remind you of one:  Mike Wilke.

6-3 posting right now on this forum, for those of you keeping track at home that is more wins than losses, and I am pretty darn happy with that.  I would like to thank centsports for taking care of business for me, and allowing me to enjoy the college football season even a little bit more than I normally would.  Looks like there are a few more games on Labor Day Monday.. Rutgers will battle Cincy and Miami Fl takes on the tomahawk chop, Florida State.  Not 100% sure on which way I am going to go with these games, I have a feeling I'll be pulling the trigger on the under in the Rutgers game.

I'm feeling good after the first weekend, however, I need to get better at the spreads.  I'm tearing it up on the over/unders as these are where I was strongest last year.  Also, the NFL season is starting up; NFL is tough.  Very, very tough, but it's worth playing.. after all, it's not my money!

So, I don't know if you heard about this new emphasis that college football is placing during games.  It's apparently geared towards stopping hitting of "defenseless" players and head-hunting.  Well, apparently this rule is awful.  I mean, TERRIBLE.  In case you weren't watching the Georgia vs. Oklahoma State game this bad rule came into full effect.  Georgia S Rashard Jones delivered a picture perfect shoulder first hit into a receiver going for the ball, doing what Jones was taught to do.  NOT LET THE OPPONENT CATCH THE BALL.  Amazingly, every ref and 30,000 people in the stands threw their flags onto the field.  It looked like litter out there, absolute trash.

The first weekend of college football is nearly over; we've got the 2nd half of the Colorado vs. Colorado State game and tomorrow features Cincy vs. Rutgers and Miami vs. FSU.  I do have some interesting thoughts on the opening weekend.

1.  I've already blogged about how much this emphasis on hitting to the head or defenseless players will get over the course of the season.  This is going to be bad, really, really bad.

2.  Living in Illinois, all I hear about is Juice Williams and Illinois.. well, guess what, Juice Williams is basically the same QB this year as he was his freshman year.  Erratic, terrible accuracy, and just not very good.  He single-handily might be wasting Regis Benn.. well, that and injuries.

3.  Regis Benn might be one of the more overhyped players in recent years.  He can't stay healthy, they can't get him the ball, he came to Illinois probably staying 3 years and putting up amazing numbers.  If he leaves this year and a team takes him high; I'd be worried.  The kid cannot stay healthy.

What are the Denver Broncos doing right now?  They are just a joke; they made a good hire; I thought.  Josh McDaniels should be able to turn in into an offensive mastermind.  He's learned from some of the best, and I think he's young and brash enough to make big things happen, but here is my problem.  They are talking contract extension with WR Brandon Marshall?  Really?  This is the same guy that batted down passes on purpose during practice, walked while everybody else jogged/stretched, and then pulled the ultimate douchebag move and punted the ball away from the ballboy.  Wow, because THAT's real tough.  Mr. Marshall makes $2.198 million, and he acts like this.  What a whiner.
There are several sides to the issue; he feels like he's worth more than he's making.  The average joe.. like me, thinks he's a selfish baby, that should be happy he has the skills to play a game that I can only control on a video game system.  He has the skills and size to be an elite athlete; I have the skills to do.. well, basically nothing really.  At most, in the profession I will be entering I'll make like $50,000 a year after 30 years.  I love athletics, I love football, I love basketball, and I would love to be able to play them at that level, but I can't and I accept that.  What I cannot accept, however, is a multimillionaire not doing his job because he wants to get paid more.  That ticks me off.

Fresno State +8.5 vs. Wisconsin.  (Wisconsin had over 30 people sick with a 2 day flu bug and only beat Northern Illinois by 8.  Fresno State is a better opponent and is not afraid of playing big competition.  Ryan Mathews can run the ball all day and Fresno will play tough enough defense against the Badgers)

Fresno State/Wisconsin under 53.  Both teams love to run the ball and play a little bit of defense.  They can be inconsistent and Fresno State won't show up sometimes, but usually it takes a beating before they quit on the season.  They'll be up for this game, which Wisconsin won 13-10 last year.  I expect a 20-17 type slugfest.

Gerogia vs. South Carolina under 40.  Big bet, BIIIIIG bet.  Neither team can score, Joe Cox has been out all week resting an injury.  South Carolina D's up against Georgia and neither team is explosive.  Last year was 14-7 and that was when Georgia had the #1 and #12 picks in the NFL draft.  Big time SEC defensive battle.

#3 Bill vs. #1 Josh Bill (123ppg) takes on Josh (137ppg) this week in a big time fantasy football match-up. Bill was left for dead this year after ripping off 2 league titles; half his roster graduated or went pro early and now he's parlayed a few spare parts into some young hosses that lead the charge for him. Jevan Snead takes over at QB after he dealt Tim Tebow to T-Raz. Bill picked up Ryan Broyles in the trade who gives him a lot of ammo at the WR position. A failed trade with Perrins and Bill have both of them reeling and Perrins crying in private emails around the league. Fortunately, those emails remain private so the league doesn't need to here his confessions. I'll bet it looks something like this. Anyway, Bill is off to a off start thanks to a flying and amped up South Carolina defense. Josh should get a big week from Blane Gabbert and he has a few backs capable of points in Nic Grigsby and John Clay.. as well as Ryan Williams. Smart money is on Josh this week, but you can't forget Bill just knows how to win. Spread: Josh -11.5

I haven't really written much lately because I've been pretty busy.. of course, that doesn't mean I don't think about football.

1.  Chris Spielman is awesome.  No nonsense, says what he thinks and how he feels.  He expects players to make plays, I wonder if he would ever want to coach.  If so, you've got to give him an interview.. at least.  I guarantee his team would have instant toughness and not hurt themselves.  There are some mid-major programs that could use this guy.

2.  If Wisconsin corners are going to give Levonne Rowan type cushion, they better stick the WR.  Right now, I'm fairly certain they can't cover a book or tackle an elementary math problem.

3.  The Badgers are a few years from being legit, but at least they have a few young players that are fun to watch.  JJ Watt, Chris Borland, Mike Taylor, and Nick Toon will be electric in the next few years.
