The first NCAA college preview for our 10 team league will take a gander at Slick Willy's line up. Ol' Slick Willy, a future Wisconsin Badger athletic booster, is the league's only 2 time champion. Pretty crazy, since the league is going into it's 3rd season. Willy hit a HR by drafting Tim Tebow, who led him to the promised land.. no, not the Garden of Eden, the championship the first 2 years. Last year, Willy knew he had to reload and shipped Tebow for younger players and draft picks. (Willy's God fearing fans took to him at a service in a foreign country.) Coming off a 6-8 season, he'll be looking to right the ship and get back into title contention so he doesn't flame out early in his coaching career.
QB: Josh Nesbitt and Andrew Luck lead the charge. Nesbitt is a bit different because he's basically a RB that lines up at QB. Have you ever seen this guy throw? Andrew Luck, however, can throw. He's supposedly a lock for the NFL 1st round right now because of his skills. We'll see if this translates to any college fantasy success.. remember, Stanford lost Toby Gerhart and his 828 carries from last year.
RB: Currently, 8 RB's sit on the roster including Evan Royster and Jordan Todman. Todman projects to be a stud for UCONN this year. Josh Nesbitt might as well be the QB at UCONN because whoever it is up there throws something like him. Todman should get mega touches against the soft Big East. Royster always could be better, but Penn State is mega conservative and lets off the gas early in games to preserve their players, so Royster is kind of like having LeBron on your NBA team... ready to be excited only to feel let down after the season. Bill has 5 soph RB's on the roster.. all of whom are in time shares right now. He'll need at least one of them to break away (not the way Washun Ealey tried) to be a legit team this year.
WR: 7 WR's are on this team and they are all one big ? None of them stand out right now.. Derek Moye leads the way but there are serious questions about the QB up in Penn State. Joe Adams competes with 13 other guys for the ball in Arkansas and Bert Reed might not have any dignity left down in Florida. Oklahoma FR Kenny Stills figures to be a monster, either this year or next with Landry Jones slinging him the rock and Ryan Broyles taking away coverage on the otherside.
TE: Cagey TN Luke Stocker had 5 TD's last year and his reception totals have increased every year in college. He's climbing his way up the TE rankings and could find the end zone 6-8 times this year. Plus, he's sweet because he has twitter.
K: In one of the best draft picks this past season, "Cobra" Kai Forbath was added to the roster. Forbath is accurate and has a monster leg, of course.. who wouldn't if they were a member of the Cobra Kai?
D: In another shrewd move and part of sending Ryan Broyles away this year, Willy got himself a tough, fantasy defense in Ohio State. This D gets points for not giving up points, points for sacks, points for INT's, fumble recoveries and defensive scores. One of the best in the nation.
Best case: Coming off that 6-8 season, the best thing that can happen for Willy is for Tebow to not feel left out and return to town as a QB coach when his NFL career doesn't work out. He can help coach up the youth on this roster and get them to the next level. In the meantime, if Nesbitt can throw a forward pass, a young RB steps up and Cobra Kai hits 50 yard FG's like they are Daniel Son's face all year long he'll sneak into a mid-tier bowl game.
Worst case: Nesbitt still throws like a girl and runs like one too. Todman gets hurt and Ealey corrupts the locker room with his hit and run bit. The WR's morph into one super WR that can't play (Mike Williams) and Cobra Kai neglects to sweep the leg and gets benched all season.
Hard Truth: Bill's team isn't built to compete this year and he'll probably have to find 2 QB's after the season. The rest of the line up is young and has time to gel as long as a field general in place. This isn't Willy's year.. for football or the economy but change is near.
