I had to take off work today to get an MRI and then get a follow up on it, and I wanted to say a few things about it.
1. St. John's Hosptial is too big. I had no idea where I was going and how to get out, I had to ask some random lady how to even find the main entrance. I felt like a board game piece in the game Mouse Trap.
2. When I put on the blue patient clothes to get my MRI, I was glad there was a mirror in there. I came to realize either I am on the same level as the doctor's from Grey's Anatomy in the looks department or just about anybody can look good in the blue hospital clothes. Personally, I think it's a little more the first option than the second, but you be the judge.
3. If you're afraid of an MRI machine, you've got problems. Talk about relaxation, if I didn't sound like I was at an airport or have Dave and Deena from 103.7 blasting in my ears, I bet I woulda fallen asleep. And for the record 103.7 do we really need to listen to people call in about first baby words or if you remember your son/daughter's first words? I'm sure 98% of them were: DADA or MAMA. If it were something like pneumonoultramicroscopicsilic ovolcanoconiosis, then yeah, I might be impressed. By the way, according to wikipedia that is the longest word in an English dictionary.
4. By the way, I almost really did fall asleep in the machine. I also had no idea I could just talk and they could hear me, so when they asked if I was okay and ready, I just assumed they were looking through the glass at me. I gave them a big ol' thumbs up, only to have the question asked two more times. Only then, did I realize they must not be looking, I said, "Yes, sorry." and they immediately answered.
The follow up was sweet music to my ears. Nothing wrong with my ACL, PCL or meniscus. My patella is apparently weak and strained, my IT band is awful and my right hip is weak. That combination forces my knee to cave in which caused some rubbing and a "knee blister" on the inside of my knee. I got some sweet stretches and an elastic band and I am ready to roll. I plan on delaying training for this week only and then next week, I'm back at it! I will run the Green Bay Marathon on May 16, 2010 and I WILL do it to raise money for MDA. A link to my site will be posted there shortly, any fundraising ideas are appreciated. Nothing, outside of anything that Cherns says, will be ignored.
