Nervous about Running the Green Bay Marathon

I don't know if you know this or not, but the next Monday I am supposed to start training for my Green Bay Marathon in hopes of earning $2000 for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). I have an 18 week training program all lined up from Hal Higdon which I will tweak here and there, as I see fit. Of course, that tweaking and this alliance might come crashing down sometimes in the next week or two. You see, I have had this knee pain for a few months now and I tried naproxin, stretching, stretching, icing, stretching and more naproxin to take the pain and swelling away. Sadly, nothing has really changed. It could be a problem with my knee cap sliding, could be irritation from a previous broken leg surgery or tendinitis. Or... it could be worse.

I talked to a trainer, and I think I am going to call and try to set up an appointment to get my knee looked at Thursday or early next week. I hope everything works out okay. The training would need to start soon and I need to be confident going into this. I want to do it was fast as possible and I want to be able to do it to help out MDA.

Needless to say, I am starting to get nervous and a bit stressed out about the situation. In the meantime, however, I have biked a few times which is not even close to as fun as running. I also started to try to snack a lot less and rip off some core exercises since the new year has started. My goal is to average 200 sit ups and 100 push ups a day for this month. That's 6200 sit ups and 3100 push ups. And guess what, I'm nowhere near pace as I've done 200 sit ups and 100 push ups. That's an average of 40 and 20. Time to get into gear starting tonight!

I do have some good news, if my knee checks out and I am able to run the Green Bay Marathon I have a site set up from MDA. I am waiting until this gets cleared before I send it out to anybody, so cross your fingers and wish me luck!
