I haven't really written much lately because I've been pretty busy.. of course, that doesn't mean I don't think about football.
1. Chris Spielman is awesome. No nonsense, says what he thinks and how he feels. He expects players to make plays, I wonder if he would ever want to coach. If so, you've got to give him an interview.. at least. I guarantee his team would have instant toughness and not hurt themselves. There are some mid-major programs that could use this guy.
2. If Wisconsin corners are going to give Levonne Rowan type cushion, they better stick the WR. Right now, I'm fairly certain they can't cover a book or tackle an elementary math problem.
3. The Badgers are a few years from being legit, but at least they have a few young players that are fun to watch. JJ Watt, Chris Borland, Mike Taylor, and Nick Toon will be electric in the next few years.
4. Lets not overreact to Kevin Frederick starting as a frosh at Wisconsin. I know Joe Thomas never did and he's amazing. This is more of a lack of depth or healthy players than him being that good. It's kind of like Darryn Colledge starting for the Packers.. sadly, there aren't many other options.
5. I love watching Chris Maragos play a little safety. He's smart, can tackle, and is very physical. He had a few fill, scrape, and shed tackles than the LB's have.
6. What is with college players breaking down and dropping anchor to challenge a ball-carrier? It's elementary! Keep the feet moving! Foot fires! Break down, keep the feet moving and tackle the ball carrier.. no sense in dropping anchor and getting abused on the field.
7. I had to laugh at Brent Musberger during the Ohio State/USC game. He honestly made the quote, "Matt Barkley doesn't know where the library is yet, and he's going to start in the Shoe!" Uhhhhh, Brent.. if he's a typical USC football player I'm guessing he'll never step foot in the library! He goes to U$C!
8. By the way, Trojans.. loved your game against Washington. Anytime you want to focus on an entire season is cool with your fans. Way to redeem yourself by slipping past Washington State too. Not quality.
9. Will people that think Tim Tebow is an NFL caliber QB please list your real reasons? His arm strength is questionable, his footwork is horrible, the passing offense is awfully simple. I'd like to see him under C and do a 3-5 step drop. I bet it's hilarious.
