Sick of the Big 10 Dissing

Did you know the Big 10 has been down for about 12 straight seasons according to the national media (ESPN) and ignorant football fans.. mainly in SEC territory?  So, Ohio State gets railroaded by one of the best teams in the nation yearly since Urban Meyer shows up, and that team features a QB some call "legendary" or the best ever in college history.  Michigan takes it on the chin against what some might call a semi-professional team (only semi because apparently some of the athletes are getting paid.. Reggie Bush?) and suddenly the conference is terrible.  They are slow.  They are mongrols; they can't throw the ball.. they can't stop the spread.

Apparently, people don't notice that the conference has plenty of athletes at the skill positions (Terrelle Pryor, Juice Williams, Adam Weber, Darryl Clark, soon to be Curt Phillips, John Clay, Regis Benn, Eric Deker, DeVier Posey) and that is just on the offensive side of the ball.  The fact is the Big 10 is actually slowly taking on the spread offense as well; Purdue has been doing it for years.  Penn State went Spread HD, Ohio State runs some spread, Minnesota runs some spread, Northwestern runs spread, Indiana ran some spread with Kellen Lewis, Michigan runs spread, Illinois runs spread, and I wouldn't be shocked to see Wisconsin run it as well with Curt Phillips at QB.  The fact of the matter is, that the spread is tough to stop nationwide, not just Big 10 teams can't stop it.. NOBODY can stop it right now.  Remember West Virginia running circles around Georgia in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago?  Did that mean Georgia was slow and mongrol like?  Noooo, but if West Virginia did that to a Big 10 team, I think the feeling might have been different.

I think the Big 10 is the current Rodney Dangerfield of football, no respect.  People remember certain loses and that's it; they use that loss to add fuel to their own fire.  They don't remember the wins or the players the Big 10 features that can make a difference.  Once again, the Big 10 will go into conference and knock the snot out of each other, win a few bowl games, maybe lose in the BCS bowl game and it'll be another "lost" season according to all the pundits and SEC fans.  Maybe I just need to learn to quit watching ESPN!
