ESPN has an unknown segment on nearly every edition of Sportscenter called "The Favre Watch," which chronicles the ins and outs of Brett Favre's possible return to the NFL. In Wisconsin, the fans don't even need ESPN because whether they are out camping or on the golf course having a few beers the Favre story finds them. Inevitably, it throws off their golf game as they miss an easy putt or break their wedge in the sand and somehow it's Favre's fault. And you know what? I am sick and tired of all of this "Brett is losing a fan here" talk because Brett Favre doesn't care if you're not his fan anymore. His only mission right now is to come back and stick it to Ted Thompson. The same Ted Thompson that ran him out of Green Bay, the same Ted Thompson that wanted to put his mark on the roster.. the same Ted Thompson that has shrewdly put together an impressive roster.. so darn impressive that Green Bay rattled off 6 wins last year. (I know, Favre can't stop the run.. Favre can't stop the pass.. Favre's not giving up 30 points a game.. Favre once won 4 games in a season.. but they were coming off a 13 win season.)
Favre is basically the same guy he was 5 years ago, except now he has revenge on his mind. It's clear that when he wants to do something he does it.. the guy did become addicted to painkillers and drinking. He apparently has some sort of addictive personality, and right now he is addicted to giving Thompson the big middle finger, and there is nowhere else better to do that than Minnesota. I don't blame him for it, Green Bay was his life; all he wanted to do was go out on top and have a fair shake with the roster. He wanted another weapon that could have put him in position to win it all. You can't blame an NFL QB for wanting a good roster and a chance to win. Thompson forced him into a decision that he wasn't ready to make and now he wants revenge on Thompson for that. I see nothing wrong with that. In fact, I hope he goes to Minnesota and sticks it to Green Bay and all Favre haters.
It makes me sick that you "fans" have quickly forgotten how much he means to Green Bay because of one or two late seasons. The big cliche thing is that he's a whiner, a prima donna, he needs to be in the spotlight and yadda yadda yadda. It's easy to rip on Favre now, kinda like Bush at the end of his reign as president. Go ahead, be a sheep, follow in line and do what everybody else is doing.. don't make your own opinions or disagree with the majority. All I can say is when Minnesota takes the field against Green Bay.. if Favre is a Viking, I'm cheering for the purple. You can take that to the bank.
