The Scary Part? We Will Get Better. posted on 09/17/2008
The BYU offense, outside of a couple of turnovers, has played to absolute perfection the first couple of weeks. To add insult to opposing defenses injury, BYU's Offense and Defense are just going to get better. Max Hall is a stud junior quarterback and heisman candidate, Harvey UNGA is a sophmore 250 pound running/receiving threat, and Dennis Pitta, a Junior, is arguably the best Tight End in the country. To make matters worse? Austin Collie, the junior #1 recevier, should also be coming back as well as Stud Freshman left tackle Matt Reynolds.
Though the defense is still an enigma, there is no doubt they will get better. Sackmaster Jan Jorgensen should return to anchor the core of BYU's defensive line, as well as Russell Tialavea. The only threat lost at linebacker is Captain David Nixon. He might be replaced by the best Outside Backing Prospect in the country in Manti T'eo from Hawaii. Either way Vic So'oto should return healthy from a potentially season ending foot injury.

Who Has The Best Offense in The Country? posted on 09/17/2008
Being an avid BYU fan, I believe we have one of the best and arguably THE BEST offense in the country. I can not see how any defense can possibly stop us. BYU has one of the best offensive lines in the country, averaging a behemoth 6 foot 6 inches and 330 pounds. This is absurd for any level, not just college football. To top that off, if you somehow get by this huge line, you have two 250 pounds of Polynesian Fury running at you in Fui Vakapuna followed by Harvey Unga. So if you plan on stacking the box, you only have to worry about Heisman Candidate Max Hall throwing to sure handed receivers Austin Collie, Michael Reed, and Mackey Candidate Dennis Pitta.
BYU is not known to be a quick strike offense, which is scary for those of you who watched the UCLA game. Most of our scoring drivers were like the Cougars opening one, methodical and productive. The reason BYU has the best third down conversion rate in the nation? Besides great execution and experience among the players, they usually don't have long third downs to convert! BYU just moves and moves down the field, and is virtually unstoppable. They will produce a 4 yard pass, 4 yard run, 3 yard pass. FIRST DOWN! Ball Possession is key in this offense, and though they'll take a score whenever they can, they'd prefer to take as much time off the clock as possible.

The Mountain West is NOT a Mid Major posted on 09/17/2008
When most people see the Mountain West Football, they think of three teams: Brigham Young, Utah, and Texas Christian University. Over the past couple of years no one could blame them, as they not only won games inside the conference, but purely dominated all other foes. This year is different, shown by week 3 of the season. BYU obliterated UCLA 59-0, TCU took care of Stanford at home. Not much has been made of UNLV's huge victory over then 15th ranked Arizona State and normal bottom feeder New Mexico beating a solid Arizona team. One thing is for certain, this conference is proving to be just as good as the others.
Many make the argument that USC and Oregon are the two best teams in the Pac-10... and they are right. They didn't play any of the MWC teams. However, there is no doubt the Pac 10 is better than the Big East and ACC. It is disgraceful that a team who wins in those easy conferences gets an AUTOMATIC bid to a BCS Bowl game, and if they get a bid, why not the MWC?
