Ok dawg fans it’s game day. We got some things to cover so lets get to it. Last week Georgia rolled past vandy in a 24 to 14 victory. Again the Dawgs struggled in the red zone putting points on the board. Freshman kicker Blair Walsh missed a couple gimme field goals but put one through the uprights to seal a 10-point lead late in the 4th. Knowshon had a great day with a career high of 176 yards. You didn’t see any blow out runs down the sideline but the thing about Knowshon is that he is making great runs even if its only for a 2 or 4 yard gain. Sometimes he should be stuffed in the backfield for a loss and he breaks a tackle or spins away and carries it up for a positive gain. As I predicted A.J. Green had another big day exceeding the century mark in receiving yards for the second time this year. A.J. a true freshman leads the sec in receiving yards. This guy is a great weapon lets continue to inflict pain with him.
Now we are looking forward the LSU tigers which is a must win. Kickoff against the #11 LSU tigers is set 3:30 est. on cbs. The Dawgs traveling down to Baton Rouge for this battle. I think it will help us that this is a day game because from what UGA head coach Mark Richt has said before tiger stadium is the loudest place he has traveled to. Maybe the 3:30 (2:30 their time) wont give these Cajuns as much time to get all liquored up and wild. Georgia’s young offensive line is matched up against a tough veteran defensive line of LSU. LSU lists 5 seniors, two juniors and a sophomore. While UGA's starting o-line consists of 3 freshman and 2 sophomores. No juniors or seniors. "Their youngest guy matches our oldest guy... when you look on paper it is pretty scary, to say the least" says Mark Richt. Mark Richt continues on saying that he is proud of his offensive line and he is very happy on how they are progressing. One thing is for sure about our offensive line we have one of the best coaching them in coach Stacy Seareles who came to UGA last year after spending his previous 4 years coaching LSU's o-line. And that my friend is where we take an advantage. Reports have been saying that coach Seareles has also been working with Georgia’s defensive line on penetrating LSU's o-line that he constructed while LSU was on its way to its national championship.
Keys to the victory:
As always Knowshon needs to have a great impact on this game and that doesn't really mean he has to put gaudy numbers. Don’t get me wrong I want Moreno to run wild like he did on Florida last year. However if we can make LSU fear our run game..... we get the ball in A.J. Green's hands which I expect to have another great game.
Our offensive line is going to be critical we need to protect Stafford and open holes for Moreno. LSU's huge d-line doesn't need to control this game. Its quite simple if our guys are over matched and we can't stop their rush. We do a quick dump off pass to Moreno in the flats and let him run. We don’t have to huge gains. We just have to move the move the sticks. So lets move them. This type of dump off should make Stafford comfortable in the pocket break LSU of their new “Express” defensive scheme as they call it. Basically it comes into play in passing downs such as 3rd and long. LSU takes out their regular Defensive line and stacks their line with defensive ends for pure speed pass rush.
Well that’s about going to wrap it up Dawg fans. This game is a must win for us and so will Florida next week. So lets go silence these drunk bastards in Baton Rouge. GO DAWGS!
