"Do you KNOW-SHON?"

                                                 “ Do you KNOW-SHON?”

Georgia’s redshirt sophomore running back is quite arguably the tailback with the most expectations since Hershel Walker. Knowshon Moreno is only in his third year at the University of Georgia. While redshirting his freshman year, Moreno came off as cocky to his teammates due to his energetic style of play. You have seen this style of play. When Knowshon runs hard like he usually does and immediately jumps on his feet to sprints back to the huddle. His teammates perceived this as cockiness at first but soon found out that Moreno was doing what he does and trying to make everyone around him better. This 5 foot 7 inches 207 lbs. star out for Georgia football comes from West Keansburg, New Jersey. He attended Middletown High School South and led them to three state championships. As a senior he rushed for over 1800 yards and 43 touchdowns in just 10 games. He finished second in all time New Jersey high school ranks finishing his high school career with 6268 career rushing yards and 128 touchdowns.

If these stats are any indication of what Georgia fans have a lot to look forward to. This year he has already been running over and hurdling defenders and diving into the end zone racking up 10 TDs already. The last loss to Alabama really hurt but I believe that not giving Knowshon as many touches as he deserves played a part in that. And I know the argument that the huge D-line of Bama was stopping the run, but when you have a player as electrifying as Knowshon Moreno you throw him a screen of a short route and let him carry the rock.

Back in the Days when Hershel was taking the college world by storm, The sports writers asked him one time if he got tired of carrying the ball 30 or more times a game. And Hershel had a great reply “The ball ain’t heavy”. Moreno has this same mentality he’s a team player through and through…. But he wants the ball and he wants run wild. Nothing tells the other team that you are going to dominate a game physically like stuffing the ball down there throats running the ball. I want you to think back to Georgia vs. Florida last year. We started the game with 10 count em 10 consecutive runs leading to a score (in which Moreno dives over a pile of defenders). We set a standard and Florida could not take it.
